The Riverside community grapples with a somber mystery after a man was found unresponsive just hours following his release from detention. Lawrence Orso, the 46-year-old Murrieta resident, died on Saturday morning in French Valley, as confirmed in a statement released by the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.
Deputies who arrived at the scene in the 30000 block of Auld Road at around 9:53 a.m. rendered lifesaving measures until paramedics took over. Their collective efforts were in vain, with Orso being pronounced dead at the location. The Riverside County Sheriff's Department says that Orso had been released from the Cois Byrd Detention Center, where he had been held due to an arrest for Driving Under the Influence, at 8:26 a.m. that same morning—an hour and a half before the tragic discovery.
While details are sparse and the authorities have yet to ascertain the full picture, there is presently no indication of foul play. The Riverside County Sheriff's Department transparently acknowledges the ongoing nature of the investigation and the search for answers. Their statement details the immediate findings and calls for public input to aid in the case.
As the community processes this incident, the Sheriff's Department is asking anyone who might have information to step forward. Investigator D. Robertson can be contacted directly at (951) 955-1777, or information can be given by calling Riverside County Sheriff's dispatch at 951-776-1099.
