Parents and drivers around Anne Arundel County note that a fresh batch of automated speed enforcement cameras is slated to join the ranks in school zones in early October. According to a recent update from the Anne Arundel County Police, as memorialized on their website, these electronic watchdogs are set to ensure kids can safely commute to and from school without the peril of speeding vehicles.
This initiative, which began in June with portable cameras in school zones, focuses on enforcing safe driving in high-traffic areas. After a 15-day grace period and a second wave of cameras in July, a third phase will soon launch in school zones around Pasadena Elementary, Millersville Elementary, Quarterfield Elementary, Monarch Academy, and Solley Elementary.
For those unfamiliar with the locations, here's where the new cameras will keep a watchful eye: Pasadena Road, Millersville Road, Quarterfield Road, Brock Bridge Road, and Solley Road. Particularly for Solley Elementary, the existing camera is set for a switch-up, moving from the northbound side of the road to the southbound side—drivers should be prepared.
