A broken water main in North Las Vegas left many residents, including an area middle school, without access to water since Sunday morning. On Monday, the City of North Las Vegas confirmed they were diligently working on an emergency repair to restore services. The disruption affected up to 50 homes and students at Von Tobel Middle School, situated near Carey Avenue and Pecos Road.

FOX5 reports that local resident Rene stated, "We’re worried because we need water at home, because it is water we drink, water we use to wash dishes and wash clothes, we don’t have water. We don’t have water to bathe ourselves. That’s why we have to come here (to the hydrant)." The urgency for this basic resource was highlighted by neighbor Adela Cruz, who appealed, "Please help us so we can know what is happening. It’s not just affecting me, but it’s affecting other families. We need water."

Amidst the crisis, the school's principal proactively sent out a letter to parents, informing them about the water shut off and ensuring that students were provided with alternative amenities. "The CCSD Facilities Department has been contacted to work to resolve the matter. Our students will be provided with drinking water and Facilities are setting up hand washing stations. Instruction is continuing with minimal interruption," the principal's letter stated, according to an announcement shared by 8 News Now.

Fortunately, officials announced that water service was restored by 7:30 p.m. on Monday, providing relief to residents and students.
