
Pineville Police Officer Christopher Jackson has been charged with driving while impaired (DWI) after being found unresponsive in his vehicle earlier today. As reported by QC News, the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department (CMPD) discovered Officer Jackson's vehicle stopped on the side of the road in south Charlotte, with its engine running, around 3:30 a.m.
CMPD officers approached the vehicle, which was positioned half on the roadway and half on a grassy area, and roused Jackson who was seated in the driver’s position; following this Jackson underwent a field sobriety test, which led to his arrest on charges of DWI, felony carrying a concealed weapon, and misdemeanor carrying a concealed weapon, as per WCNC.
Following the arrest, the Pineville Police Department took the immediate action of suspending Officer Jackson. "Pineville Police holds our officers to the highest of standards and maintaining and keeping the trust of the public is paramount," the department stated in a release picked up by WSOC TV. The department also promised transparency as the matter undergoes internal review.
Officer Jackson, who now faces the legal repercussions of his alleged actions, is anticipated to appear in court on October 10, according to the schedule of court records, and during this period Jackson will remain on administrative leave without pay an official confirmation from the Pineville Police Department.
