Orange County prepares to honor its Hispanic heritage this month with a series of cultural events headlined by a celebration marking the 25th anniversary of the Hispanic Heritage Network of Orange County (HHNOC). As per a recent announcement by the Orange County Government, the month-long extravaganza, spotlighting the theme "Pioneers of Change, Shaping the Future Together," is set in motion with the support of Duke Energy, serving as the presenting sponsor.
The official kick-off for these festivities is breakfast on September 10 at the Orange County Administration Center, and what's to follow is a variety of cultural indulgences, including art exhibits, performances, and a chance to dig into diverse Hispanic cuisines, "Hispanic Heritage Month is a celebration of the rich and diverse Hispanic culture," Orange County Mayor Jerry L. Demings expressed his hopes in a statement obtained by the county's newsroom, encouraging community members to immerse themselves in the month's activities.
Adding to the agenda, the Hispanic Youth Leadership Awards will commend eight outstanding Hispanic youths for their achievements in areas ranging from academia to social advocacy, and the event will be accessible for remote viewing across multiple platforms, including Orange TV. Furthermore, art lovers will revel in the exhibits at the Orlando International Airport and the Orange County Administration Center that display works from local Hispanic artists representing various countries. These exhibitions, free to the public, open a window into the artistic pulse of the Hispanic community today until late October.
Hispanic Heritage Month draws to a close with the 25th Anniversary Celebration at the Orange County Multicultural Center on October 9, 6 p.m., anticipated to be a vibrant assembly featuring live performances, traditional food, and an award presentation to a distinguished Hispanic leader within the community.
