An Orange County man, David Andrew Ogden, has been arrested on allegations of breaking into a Winter Park home and performing lewd acts on sleeping children. According to ClickOrlando, Ogden faces multiple charges, including two counts of lewd or lascivious molestation of a victim under 12 years old, three counts of lewd or lascivious exhibition, resisting police without violence, and burglary with assault or battery, which resulted from an incident that occurred on September 8.
The mother, working as an Uber driver at the time of the intrusion, was alerted to Ogden's presence in her home by a friend via text. Watching her home cameras while still on her shift, the mother captured footage of Ogden, who she knew as a personal trainer from a local YMCA for about five years, beside her children. Ogden, the same man, was recorded "rubbing her legs" of one of the children and taking photos. Authorities additionally reported seeing Ogden expose himself and conduct an act of self-gratification while sniffing one of the children, as reported by ClickOrlando.
As an immediate response, the mother contacted the police, racing home where, upon their investigation, no suspect was initially found inside the household. Still looming over the home, Ogden texted the mother after the incident, attempting to convey normalcy and unawareness, with messages that read, "Hey, seriously, Saturday if you need to work. I’m happy to entertain the kids. Have a good night. I know you’re probably sleeping. But my girls had a blast with yours." He added, "Also. Little drunk watching umbrella academy. Lol. But really was great to see my girls hav8ng so much fun. They went out like a light at bedtime. Lol," as detailed by ClickOrlando.
In the aftermath of the allegations, the Winter Park Police arrested Ogden at his residence. Lurking around his neighbor's apartment earlier, where Ogden's father, the chief of the Windermere Police Department, had to confront this unthinkable violation committed by his family member. In a statement cited by WFTV, Chief David A. Ogden expressed his sentiments: "I am disheartened, shocked, and crushed by the recent news of a family member’s arrest. As difficult as this is, I believe in the importance of allowing the legal process to unfold and in the principles of accountability and justice."
Ogden pleaded not guilty to all charges on September 17th. Despite the dropping of three counts of lewd or lascivious exhibition, the seriousness of the accusations against Ogden holds him in custody, denied bond by a judge during his first appearance as affirmed by ClickOrlando.
