As health trends ebb and flow, Pierce County Human Services is teaming up with Virginia Mason Franciscan Health to offer residents a beacon of evidence-based guidance on nutrition for cancer prevention. The free educational series titled "Eating for Cancer Prevention: Cutting Through the Fads and Finding Healthy Solutions" is set to provide actionable tips and dispel the myths swirling around diet and cancer risk.

With the ever-burgeoning myriad of diet fads and health advice, it's crucial to not only educate oneself but also to critically distinguish between substantiated practices and urban legend. The workshops are designed to practically empower individuals with the knowledge to make informed decisions about their diet.

Pierce County residents are invited to attend one of four sessions throughout September, as announced in a recent release by Pierce County. The talks are aimed at shedding light on the relationship between food, nutrients, and cancer, providing attendees with the tools to adopt healthier eating habits.

Registered Dietician, Tricia Sinek, will be delivering insights based on current research to help attendees correctly to navigate the complex dietary landscape. According to the Pierce County announcement, "Participants will hear from expert speaker and Registered Dietician, Tricia Sinek, on nutrition tips and tools for a healthier future." These sessions are intended to enhance overall wellness with a keen focus on cancer prevention.

The workshops will take place at various senior centers and venues across Pierce County, with two sessions scheduled on September 26 at the Mid-County Senior Center in Tacoma and the Gig Harbor Senior Center, followed by two additional sessions on September 27 at the Lakewood Senior Activity Center and the Resurrection Lutheran Church in Tacoma. For more details, potential attendees are encouraged to visit the official Pierce County website.
