A high-speed chase involving a limousine in Pleasant Prairie resulted in the arrest of a Portage man on Monday, September 16. The suspect, 37-year-old Bradley Semrich, led officers on a pursuit after refusing to pull over for a registration violation, as reported by FOX6Now. The erratic chase began when a Pleasant Prairie Police Department officer observed the limo driving below the speed limit near 91st and Sheridan at approximately 3:30 p.m.
Attempts to stop the limousine escalated when Semrich attempted to pass southbound traffic on the shoulder and lost control, resulting in the vehicle crashing into a ditch. Following the crash, the suspect fled into a nearby wooded area. During the altercation that ensued in the woods, Semrich engaged in a physical confrontation with an officer, which included biting the officer, according to the Pleasant Prairie Police Department statement.
Additional details provided by TMJ4 included reports of Semrich having several outstanding warrants. Police were persistent in their efforts to apprehend the suspect, with Sergeant Mike Algiers stating, "Our concern is community safety at that point, and there were a lot of warnings given to that suspect when he was in the wooded area because we could see some of him, and we could hear him... and we asked for him to surrender several times, but he just continued to ignore commands and tried to flee."
Ultimately, Semrich was brought into custody with the assistance of an a K-9 unit. Upon inspection of the limousine, officers found meth and other items consistent with drug dealing. Semrich is now facing multiple felony charges, including recklessly endangering safety, fleeing an officer, battery of an officer, and possession with intent to deliver. This information was corroborated by WISN, which also released new video footage showing Semrich speeding and passing a school bus on the shoulder just before the crash.
