Scheduled for September 19, from 6-7:30 p.m. at the Richmond Heights Community Center, the program seeks to broadly share knowledge and practical steps on how to prevent gun-related accidents and fatalities, particularly among children and teens.
The initiative comes on the heels of several tragic incidents involving young children who inadvertently accessed unsecured firearms, with fatal consequences. "Every one of these tragedies could have been prevented," said U.S. Attorney Rebecca Lutzko, in a sentiment obtained by Justice.gov. They are aiming to offer educational insights about the dangers of unsafe firearm storage and to provide tools that can reduce the incidence of firearms-related accidents and self-harm.
