A fatal collision claimed the life of a motorcyclist in Sandusky yesterday evening, as reported by the Ohio State Highway Patrol. At around 8:15 p.m., at the intersection of Cleveland Road and Cowdery Street, 60-year-old Charles Grissom was riding eastbound when he was struck by a vehicle making a left turn onto Cleveland Road from Cowdery Street.
State troopers, as detailed by Cleveland19 News, indicated that Grissom was not wearing a helmet at the time of the impact, and the driver of the other vehicle, a 77-year-old Sandusky man named Andrew D. Johnson, was wearing his seatbelt and remained unharmed. The motorcycle, identified as a 1998 Honda VT750 and a 2003 Jeep Wrangler driven by Johnson, was involved in the mishap, and Johnson is said to have failed to yield while turning.
Following the crash, Grissom was transported to the Firelands Regional Hospital, where he was declared deceased.
