
A chaotic scene unfolded in downtown Denver on Friday afternoon when at least one person was injured in a shooting incident, followed by a vehicle crashing into a high-rise building at 1999 Broadway. The Denver police are still piecing together the events that led to the commotion at the intersections of Welton and 19th streets. According to Denver7, one victim was transported to a hospital with injuries of unknown severity. It remains unclear whether the injuries were a result of the shooting or the subsequent crash.
Witnesses were startled to hear gunfire amid the day's bustle. A tourist, Jessica Snodgrass from Kentucky, that she was in an Uber when the sound of "pop, pop, pop" caught her attention. She and her Uber driver witnessed a car violently cross the median and slam into the building. "We see this car … I first thought it was maybe they were getting away or whatever, and it went over the median and into the building," she said, as per KDVR. Snodgrass also noted she might have seen someone exit the vehicle post-collision.
The incident attracted law enforcement to the site, where they cordoned off the area and commenced an investigation. Details of the event were still emerging as of the time of the reports. Denver Police have confirmed an investigation is underway, according to The Denver Post. Aerial footage captured by AirTracker7 depicted a swarm of officers and crime scene tape obscuring the front of the targeted building, conveying the severity of the situation to viewers at home.
