Bibliophiles and eco-conscious shoppers alike can mark their calendars for the end-of-October event that's a win-win for everyone involved – the Fall Book Sale is on its way to Mesquite. Set for Oct. 25-26, the sale hosted by the Friends of the Mesquite Public Library offers a treasure trove of gently used books, DVDs, and other media. According to a recent announcement, the event will feature an array of genres ranging from children's literature to cookbooks.

By shopping at the sale, patrons not only score unique finds but also contribute to an eco-friendly world by keeping these items out of landfills. In a statement obtained by the city's announcement, Library Services Director Virginia Mundt expressed gratitude towards the Friends group, as per the City of Mesquite, "We are incredibly grateful to the Friends of the Mesquite Public Library for hosting this sale. Throughout the year, the Friends are behind-the scenes heroes who help us keep Mesquite residents reading and learning."

Funds raised from the book sale are pivotal for the library, helping to finance various programs, prizes, contests, and even artwork for the library. It's an opportunity for the community to bolster support while enriching their libraries. The Fall Book Sale is not just about books, it's a chance to fund vital educational and community-centric endeavors.

One notable update for this year's event is the introduction of a new payment option. In the past, only cash and checks were accepted, but now, buyers have the convenience of using credit cards too. This transition signals the library's effort to make the event accessible to a greater number of participants. The Fall Book Sale will be held at Mesquite’s Main Library, located at 300 W. Grubb Dr. From 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 25, and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 26, as reported by the City of Mesquite.
