South Point Grocery Expands to Southaven's Silo Square with New 20,000-Square-Foot StoreSource: Google Street View

South Point Grocery, known for its location in the South Main neighborhood of downtown Memphis, is set to bring its services to Southaven’s Silo Square, expanding its presence with a new 20,000-square-foot full-service store. Scheduled for a mid-2025 grand opening, construction is expected to commence this fall at the 6295 Front Street address — hooking in local customers with a slew of amenities similar to its downtown counterpart. This news comes with the announcement that South Point Grocery signed a 20-year lease as part of the Silo Square's multimillion-dollar mixed-use development. WREG reported on the announcement yesterday.

Site work for the new location, which began recently, aims to transform a part of the Silo Square development that has been tirelessly evolving since its ground-breaking in 2018. Aiming for completion in mid-2025, Silo Square readies to add a significant retail component to its 308-acre residential and commercial enterprise. According to Action News 5, the store will nestle comfortably behind popular dining spots Tekila and Firebirds on Front Street, deliberating to nestle an old-town feel into a modern shopping experience.

The Castle Retail Group, which owns South Point Grocery, seeks to replicate the success it has seen at its other locations—including High Point Grocery and several Cash Saver stores in the Memphis area. They will lease the space, with plans to feature an in-house butcher, a copious craft beer selection, and a deli department. The Commercial Appeal informed.

Brian Hill, the developer behind Silo Square, expressed his enthusiasm for creating a community nexus by bringing the grocery store to the area, emphasizing how important it is for a traditional old town to possess such a facility. Within the latest development plans, Hill commented, "Shopping sucks, I mean who wants to go to the grocery store? But this is a really cool place. It's a fraction of the size of a big box grocery store, yet you have every single thing you might need in there." His statement was captured by reporting from The Commercial Appeal.

Rick James, CEO of Castle Retail Group, iterates the importance of customer experience, "Our focus has been giving our customers a great in-store experience," James said. "For us, that includes a clean store, with a focus on superior quality, fresh food, emphasis on full shelves, innovative variety and an interaction between customers and staff that changes grocery shopping from a chore to a pleasant part of the week." These ethos were shared with The Commercial Appeal
