As Philadelphia residents get ready for Labor Day festivities, the weather will be a key factor in their outdoor plans. The National Weather Service reports that the city will start mostly cloudy but will gradually clear up, reaching a sunny high of around 80 degrees with a light north wind.
The evening promises a continuation of clear skies essential for barbecues and fireworks, though attendees might want to bring a light jacket as the low is predicted to hover around 56 degrees, North wind around 10 mph and as the week unfolds, the NWS suggests an uninterrupted sweep of sunny skies with the daytime temperature peaking in the mid-70s to low-80s, offering residents a stretch of perfect late summer weather.
Tuesday will uphold the city's streak of pleasant weather, basking in a sunny high near 76 degrees and a benign Northeast wind nudging at around 5 mph, and come nighttime, Philadelphia can anticipate another tranquil scene, with a mostly clear sky and the thermometer dipping to a comfortable 54 degrees with negligible wind.
With the week reaching its midpoint, Wednesday is set to maintain the sunny disposition, climbing to a high near 80 degrees, calm conditions reigning until an easterly wind awakens in the afternoon at a mild 5 mph, then as Thursday rolls in, the mostly sunny climate will persist, potentially escalating to a warmer 82 degrees, however, change looms on the horizon as Friday introduces a 30% chance of showers post-2pm contrasting with the prior days' unblemished blues.
Moving into the weekend, Philadelphia's forecast becomes more unsettled with the NWS indicating a 50% chance of showers for both Friday night and Saturday, the latter reaching a high of approximately 77 degrees under a veil of mostly cloudy skies, the possibility of rainfall diminishes slightly to 40% for Saturday night, cascading into Sunday which is predicted to offer a reprieve from the dampness with a return to predominately sunny weather and a high around 74 degrees, according to NWS.
