Residents of a Superior neighborhood were instructed to stay indoors early Monday morning as law enforcement pursued a 'person of interest' connected to a stolen vehicle incident. The Boulder County Sheriff's Office implemented a mandatory shelter-in-place order following the flight of the suspect from police at approximately 7:35 a.m. near the vicinity of S 76th St. and Sycamore Street, as detailed by Denver 7.
The pursuit began when the suspect was spotted running from the 1500 block of S. 76th Street towards the Sagamore subdivision. Residents were advised to securely lock their doors and windows and to stay alert for any suspicious activity. People having an immediate visual of someone matching the suspect's description, a man donned in a white shirt, and jeans, and carrying a backpack, were urged to directly contact 911, as stated by KDVR. The shelter-in-place order effectively disrupted the usual rhythm of the community for nearly two hours.
The heightened alert was lifted at 9:06 a.m. when the Boulder County Sheriff's Office deemed the situation clear, allowing residents to resume their normal activities. Despite the end of the order, authorities confirmed the suspect has not been captured and remains at large.
During the incident, residents received regular updates from the Boulder County Sheriff's Office to keep them informed about the developing situation. According to the Daily Camera, the Sheriff's Office advised individuals to "report any suspicious activity to the non-emergency line at 303-441-4444 x2." While the immediate peril seemed to have passed, the law enforcement agencies continued to assuredly work to track down and apprehend the elusive suspect.
