Authorities arrested 36-year-old Jacob Dittenhafer from York County yesterday following a police search in Adams County, Dittenhafer was described as "armed and dangerous", according to Pennsylvania State Police. A search was initiated when a resident reported a man displaying unusual behavior and brandishing an AR rifle and a pistol, complete with a shotgun bandolier. Identified as "Jake" by the caller, the suspect attempted to flee on foot upon the arrival of the police, but was subsequently apprehended, as FOX43 reported.
The search resulted to uncover multiple firearms and two bombs— a pipe bomb located in Dittenhafer's vehicles and another in a backpack close to another vehicle. The Pennsylvania State Police's specialized units responded to the area, safely removing the bombs. Despite the alarming findings, the police assured that there was no imminent threat to the public. This information was relayed in an email by the State Police, as mentioned by abc27.
Aside from the weaponry and explosives found, Dittenhafer was wanted on multiple warrants, which significantly raised the stakes of the operation. No injuries were reported during the incident, and Pennsylvania State Police strongly emphasized that the situation was contained and there was not a broader danger to the community. The vehicles at the scene were eventually towed, wrapping up that phase of the police activity, as detailed by Local 21 News.
No charges had been officially filed against Dittenhafer at the time of the last reports. Investigations continued to unfold as the State Police carefully investigated the context and motives behind Dittenhafer's possession of the weapons and explosives.
