A confrontation in Townsend, Delaware, has escalated to violence, resulting in one man being arrested for a stabbing incident and another left injured. According to Delaware State Police reports, the incident occurred late Wednesday night at the Valero gas station on Dupont Parkway. Thomas Watson, aged 40, has been charged with several felonies, including Assault in the Second Degree and Possession of a Deadly Weapon During the Commission of a Felony.
Details of the altercation indicate that two vehicles, a Chrysler PT Cruiser, and a Ford Ranger, pulled into the gas station parking lot around 10:22 p.m., where an ensuing conflict quickly turned physical. After the Ford Ranger, driven by Watson, blocked the PT Cruiser, violence broke out, leading to the driver of the Cruiser being stabbed and Watson fleeing the scene; the injured man, aged 36, was aided by an on-site bystander until emergency services arrived and was subsequently hospitalized for his wounds. The police apprehended Watson shortly afterwards in Middletown following investigative leads. The drivers reportedly knew each other before the incident, which escalated this gas station disagreement into an arrestable offense.
With Watson now in custody, he was taken to Troop 2 for processing and then arraigned at the Justice of the Peace Court 11. As a result, Watson is currently held at Howard R. Young Correctional Institution, facing a secured bond set at $50,000. The charges have been detailed clearly with Assault 2nd Degree and Possession of a Deadly Weapon During the Commission of a Felony among the felonies Watson is facing, along with Criminal Mischief Under $1,000 detailing the damages done during the altercation.
