
On August 30, an incident in Troy, Michigan, became a multifaceted legal situation when a 34-year-old man was pulled over for driving significantly over the speed limit and is now facing serious charges. CBS News Detroit reports that after the man was stopped for doing over 100 mph and running a traffic signal at Rochester Road and E. Maple Road, officers noted his apparent intoxication, a suspended driver’s license, and upon searching, found a considerable amount of marijuana and cash.
The driver exhibited bloodshot and watery eyes, and the smell of intoxicants was present, which led the officers to conduct sobriety tests that the man performed poorly on; following the tests, he was arrested, with police then uncovering over $6,400 on his person, according to Audacy. In their subsequent search of the vehicle, officers discovered two large duffle bags containing 3.93 pounds of marijuana along with an additional $12,000, the breath test he took at the scene showed a .15% blood alcohol level however he refused another breath test after being detained.
Following the suspect's refusal to undergo a breath test at the police facility, a search warrant was issued for a blood draw, with the Troy Police Detective Bureau awaiting results to proceed with potential warrants. The case has been turned over to the detective bureau for further investigation, as noted by THC Marijuana News.
The suspect, whose name has yet to be released pending the conclusion of the investigation, could face a range of charges depending on the outcomes of the chemical test and the inquiry into the sourced funds and narcotics found in their possession.
