Somerset Park is getting an upgrade to fix its problematic water distribution system. Construction crews started work on Monday to address the leaks and sinkholes affecting the Henderson neighborhood. Repairs will be done Monday to Friday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. and are expected to last about nine weeks, as reported by KTNV.
Residents like Jose Villa, who has been soaking in the problem for the last two years with his family, have been long dreaming of dry days and functioning faucets. “Just being here the last two years and shutting off the water was always a big hectic situation," Villa told KTNV. Villa's sentiment echoes a collective sigh of relief as residents anticipate these repairs, which are more than mere drip-drops in their daily lives.
The construction plan confirms that, although there will be disruptions, residents can stay in their homes. However, water service interruptions are expected, potentially lasting between two to six hours for each building. On September 16 and 17, there will be overnight water shutdowns from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., as reported by 8 News Now.
The ongoing issues between Somerset Park residents and their HOA Board appear to be improving as repairs get underway, though the HOA has not disclosed the cost. Crews will also be filling a large sinkhole that has closed off an entire parking lot. Additionally, the repairs should reduce water problems on residential streets and include work at a few more intersections within Somerset Park, as reported by KTNV.
As foundations are reinforced and pipes are replaced, both the city and residents hope the next few weeks will resolve the ongoing water issues in Somerset Park. Residents will receive advance notice about the construction details and water disruptions, helping everyone prepare for the temporary dry spells.
