Acting on a tip from a staff member who suspected the student's impaired state, which was terrifying for everyone involved, a swift action led by administrators ended up in uncovering the firearm and drugs. The Upper Darby Police Department was notified promptly and took charge of the situation. "Our officers responded to the school. They took the student and the handgun out of the school," Superintendent of Upper Darby Police Tim Bernhardt told 6abc Action News.
Daniel McGarry, the school district's superintendent, extended his gratitude towards the school staff for their adherence to emergency protocols, ensuring that no injuries were reported.
