During a routine patrol on Wednesday, the Vallejo Police Department officers spotted a 2004 Mercedes-Benz C320 with expired registration tags on Redwood Street near Sacramento Street, as per a recent department Facebook post. After pulling the vehicle over, which took around 30 seconds for the driver to comply, officers discovered the driver was operating the car without a valid driver's license and detained her.

According to the post, while the passenger was found to have no outstanding warrants and was free to go, the situation escalated when law enforcement proceeded to advise the driver that her vehicle would be impounded. During the inventory search that is standard procedure before towing, the officers stumbled upon a loaded, unregistered firearm. It was hidden inside a bag on the floorboard by the driver's side, violating many laws without much effort.

"The driver admitted that the firearm in the vehicle belonged to her after she was read her Miranda Rights," the report explained by the Vallejo Police Department Facebook post. In the wake of this confession, a check into her background exposed prior felony convictions for serious offenses such as burglary and assault with a deadly weapon. The Mercedes-Benz was towed, the discovered firearm booked into evidence, and the felon, whose identity has not been disclosed, was transported to Solano County Jail.
