Officials from the San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner Department have reported the arrest of a Van Nuys man on child molestation charges relating to an incident that took place in Big Bear Lake. The individual identified is 25-year-old Jesler Martinez Peralta, who was apprehended following an investigation into the July 6 incident.
According to information provided by the department, deputies were dispatched on August 3 after a father reported the molestation of his 14-year-old child during their vacation in Big Bear Lake. Investigators conducted an extensive probe to fully determine the events and eventually were able to identify and locate Martinez Peralta. They authored a warrant for his arrest on charges that include lewd and lascivious acts with a child and molestation of a child under 18.
The subsequent arrest took place on September 5, when detectives from the Big Bear Sheriff Station's Detective Bureau found Martinez Peralta in Van Nuys, CA. He was taken into custody and booked into West Valley Detention Center, with his bail set at $100,000. According to the Sheriff-Coroner Department's official notification, Martinez Peralta is slated for arraignment at the San Bernardino County Superior Court on September 9, 2024.
