Wake County Public Libraries now provide free online tutoring for all library cardholders, thanks to their new partnership with Tutor.com. This service offers help in subjects like math, science, English, and social studies, with many resources also available in Spanish.

Susan Evans, vice chair of the Wake County Board of Commissioners, highlighted the significance of this initiative, stating, "Offering this service to our residents is a significant step toward providing equitable access to educational resources across Wake County." This acknowledges that education should not be limited by circumstances or wealth. The new online platform offers personalized support via text-chat for both students and adult learners facing academic challenges.

The tutoring service features interactive tools to enhance learning, including a two-way whiteboard, text editor, graph paper, drawing tools, a graphing calculator, and formulas. It also offers practice tests and study guides to help with exam preparation. Theresa Theall, senior library manager for Collection Development Services, told Wake County News, “Providing access to Tutor.com aligns perfectly with our mission to support lifelong learning in our community,” she was clear in saying they're more than ready to offer such a significant resource to patrons, assisting students excel and empowering adult learners towards their aims.

To access the tutoring service, Wake County library cardholders should visit wake.gov/Libraries, go to the “Research” tab, and log in with their card details. They can then start a tutoring session, submit written work for review, or explore other resources. If you don’t have a library card, you can quickly register online at the same site to gain access.
