A recent incident involving a false claim of federal authority has led to an ongoing search for the suspect in question. On Monday, a deputy responding to a disturbance found themselves extracting an uncooperative passenger from an Uber on the 20100 block of the North Freeway. The passenger, identified as Kurt Chase, was adamant that he was an FBI agent and that he held sway over local law enforcement, according to a statement from Constable Mark Herman's office.

The trouble began when the Uber driver, after experiencing belligerent and aggressive behavior from Chase, demanded that he leave the vehicle, his services had been canceled, nonetheless, he continued to insist on being taken to his destination under the pretense of his supposed federal position. Despite his insistence and previous criminal record, which includes several felonies, it was quickly ascertained that he was not an FBI agent.

"Kurt Chase was arrested and booked into the 3rd Degree Felony Impersonation of a Public Servant on September 23. His court date was set for September 26, 2024 and he did not appear. He is currently wanted by by law enforcement," said Constable Mark Herman in a Facebook post. The suspect's failure to appear at his scheduled court date has law enforcement agencies on the lookout for him.

Impersonating a federal agent is a serious offense and Kurt Chase now finds himself at the center of a search operation. Constable Mark Herman urges those with any relevant information to step forward as the pursuit for Chase continues. Any updates on the situation will be made available as law enforcement works to locate and apprehend the suspect.
