Oahu experienced a series of motorcycle crashes this weekend, leaving three people seriously injured. The accidents highlight ongoing concerns about rider safety and road conditions.
The first incident occurred late Saturday at 11:30 p.m. along Mokapu Saddle Road. A 19-year-old man was reported to have lost control of his motorcycle, leading to a serious crash. Despite the protection provided by a helmet, his injuries were significant enough to warrant emergency medical attention. According to KITV, Emergency Medical Services (EMS) responded to the scene and transported the man in serious condition.
Barely an hour later, another motorcyclist, a 24-year-old man, was seriously injured. The accident occurred on Likelike Hwy near the H3 Freeway On-Ramp around 12:15 a.m. The man is believed to have lost control and narrowly struck a guardrail. EMS acted promptly, delivering him to an emergency room where he was listed in serious condition. This incident was detailed in an article by Star-Advertiser, highlighting the dangerous nature of late-night riding.
The last accident in this series involved a much younger rider. KITV reports that at 3:40 a.m. on Sunday, a 12-year-old boy lost control of his moped on 641 N. Vineyard Blvd. The boy, who was not wearing a helmet, also suffered serious injuries. Authorities are investigating how the boy obtained the moped and the circumstances leading up to the crash.
