The fire department's response occurred just before 10:30 a.m., addressing concerns involving students between the ages of 12 and 13, FOXLA reported.

Initial reports did not clarify the nature of the substance that led to the medical call, but two students were hospitalized for further evaluation, with the remaining 12 treated on the scene and then released to their parents. The school is still operational, Paul De Bonis, the school's principal sent a notice confirming that there has been no closure nor evacuations due to the incident. "Today, we became aware that a group of students may have consumed a banned substance," De Bonis said. "Emergency personnel were contacted, and students received medical attention. The parents of the affected students have been notified," Principal Paul De Bonis added, in a statement obtained by CBS News.

Simultaneously, an unrelated incident occurred at 52nd Street Elementary School in South Los Angeles, involving a separate medical emergency where two individuals reportedly suffered from some type of overdose, the conditions of the individuals were not immediately known, as detailed by ABC7.
