Akron police are currently piecing together the events of a spate of robberies that terrorized the city last Friday, with a timeline that spans a mere two and a half hours and appears to link three separate incidents of theft and intimidation, as released by the police department and reported by Cleveland19.
The sequence of frightful events began when an elderly man, aged 71, was accosted on Clifton Avenue by two masked assailants who demanded his possessions at gunpoint and subsequently pushed him to the ground, during this distress, they seized his wallet and cell phone; a 15-year-old suspect was eventually located by Akron police after a foot chase and found concealed in the wooded outskirts near Patterson Park’s baseball field and now the young suspect is facing charges including aggravated robbery, says FOX8.
The harrowing spree continued on North Main Street whence a 19-year-old found himself in a shocking predicament as an unwelcome intruder, who had clandestinely ensconced himself in the back seat of the victim's car, wielded a gun and coerced the young man to drive to an ATM on East Cuyahoga Falls Avenue and withdraw money, "The victim exited his car and the suspect got into the driver’s seat and drove away,” the police narrated subsequently finding the victim's Toyota Camry abandoned in the 400 block of Butler Street, according to WKYC News.
Following these incidents, a 19-year-old pizza delivery driver fell victim on Wellington Avenue and Hazel Street, he was confronted by an armed individual, while in the throes of delivering for Domino’s in the 1200 block of Arnold Avenue, that threatened his life and pilfered his wallet before fleeing on foot, though fortunately leaving the delivery driver unscathed, this unfortunate event was once again reflected in WKYC's reportage, illustrating a night of fear and thievery in Akron.
