The Department of Aging and Disabilities is offering relief to caregivers by hosting a series of support group meetings in October. These meetings, designed as a safe space to share the challenges of caregiving, welcome those caring for loved ones to connect both in person and online, as detailed in an announcement by Anne Arundel County.
According to the department's announcement, the first in-person meeting will be held at 7320 Ritchie Highway in Glen Burnie on Wednesday, October 9th, from 1 to 2:30 P.M. No prior registration is required, a nod to the spontaneous and often unpredictable schedule of a caregiver's daily life.
In Annapolis, the gatherings continue with an in-person support group slated for Tuesday, October 15th. From 12:30 to 2 P.M., the Independence Room at 2664 Riva Road will again open its doors to those seeking camaraderie and counsel without the bar of advanced registration.
For those tethered by distance or obligation, a virtual lifeline is offered via Zoom on Monday, October 21st, from 6 to 7:30 P.M. Interested individuals who find solace in the virtual format are asked to procure the Zoom link by contacting [email protected].
Accessibility and inclusivity are pillars of these gatherings. To this end, any individual requiring accommodations is encouraged to contact Mary Chaput at 410-222-4339 or via email at [email protected], ideally no later than seven days before the event they wish to attend. TTY users are also welcomed, with the Maryland Relay 7-1-1 service standing by for assistance.
