Yesterday, the Jewish community in Baltimore came together in an act of solidarity and remembrance for the lives affected by the Hamas attack on Israel one year ago. Amid the backdrop of Wellwood Elementary School, participants joined in a 1.7-mile walk and a 7.1-kilometer run for Israel to honor the more than 1,200 Israelis who perished and to call attention to the remaining hostages still held by Hamas. As WMAR-2 News reported, the event fostered a powerful sense of unity within the community.

Around 200 community members carried Israeli flags and posters to show their support at the rally. Shoshanna Boroosan expressed a prevailing sentiment of communal support, as per WMAR-2 News: "Us all coming together feeling each other’s pain and knowing that I’m not alone in this and that there are other people that are experiencing that and feeling that, and that sense of togetherness is just like really comforting."

Former Governor and U.S. Senate candidate Larry Hogan addressed the crowd, noting the desire for an end to the continued hardship faced by those affected by the conflict. "I think everybody would like to see an end to the endless suffering and death. And I think the best way from them to do that would be to release the hostages," Hogan was quoted in a statement detailed by Fox Baltimore. Ninety-seven individuals are still counted as hostages following the October 2023 attack.
