A Baltimore man, identified as Dexter Nikoe Eaton, age 34, has been sentenced to 14 years in a federal prison for his involvement in a string of armed bank and commercial robberies occurring between June and July of 2022. Eaton's sentence also includes three years of supervised release post-incarceration, as U.S. District Judge Richard D. Bennett declared.
According to the U.S. Attorney's Office, Eaton's plea agreement detailed the extent of his crimes. Eaton committed six robbery incidents in total, inclusive of five successful robberies and one failed attempt. In four of these crimes, Eaton wielded a firearm to intimidate his victims. Specifically, on June 3, 2022, he robbed a bank situated on West North Avenue in Baltimore by menacing a teller with threats to the teller’s family's safety. Just six days later, Eaton's effort to rob a check cashing business was thwarted when an alert employee activated an alarm, causing him to flee the scene.
The spree continued the following day when Eaton, brandishing a handgun and donning a mask, stormed into another bank demanding cash.
U.S. Attorney Barron acknowledged the FBI and the Baltimore Police Department for bringing Eaton to justice. The Assistant U.S. Attorneys, Reema Sood and Paul E. Budlow, were also commended for their role in the prosecution.
