The Baltimore Police Department reported a string of violent crimes by a group of juvenile suspects on October 2. The sequence of events began around 10:02 a.m. with the theft of a white Toyota Rav-4 from the 500 block of West University Parkway.
Following the initial auto theft, according to Baltimore Police, the group is alleged to have commenced to carry out an unarmed robbery at around 11:37 a.m. on the 3600 block of Beech Avenue, where two victims were assaulted and robbed. The suspects, all males and minors, were also implicated in an armed robbery shortly after that, where they were accused of stealing from another victim under the threat of a handgun on the 3300 block of Chestnut Avenue.
The suspected spree of juvenile crime did not stop there. At approximately 11:50 a.m., officers responded to the 4400 block of The Alameda for an aggravated assault involving a group of juveniles, who reportedly used the threat of a weapon to intimidate the victim. This was closely followed by another robbery just five minutes later on the 4200 block of Marble Hall Avenue, where physical assault preceded the theft of the victim's belongings.
In a coordinated response to swiftly apprehend the perpetrators, BPD deployed officers from the Eastern, Northeast, and Northern Districts and the Regional Auto Theft Team (RATT). With technology support from the BPD's Communication Section, the five juveniles, ages 12 to 16, were captured in the Erdman Avenue and Belair Road vicinity. All suspects with prior records of stolen auto arrests are being charged and transported to the Baltimore City Juvenile Justice Center.
