
Tragedy struck the Central District of Baltimore yesterday afternoon when a fatal vehicle collision claimed the life of a 41-year-old truck driver and injured two others. According to the Baltimore Police Department's report, the accident occurred near the intersection of Cathedral and Centre Streets around 3:45 p.m.
The deceased, identified as Michael Bost of Baltimore, was operating the commercial truck that, after reportedly drifting downhill, struck him. Continuing its uncontrolled descent, the truck then hit four other vehicles and ultimately came to a halt against a building on W. Centre Street. Among the impacted vehicles, two were unoccupied. The incident left debris scattered across the scene as emergency responders hurried to aid the victims.
Authorities have stated that the CRASH Team investigators took over the investigation soon after the accident. They are working to piece together the events leading up to the collision. In the meantime, the building that bore the brunt of the truck's final crash is being assessed for structural integrity by inspectors who were promptly called to the scene.
The damaging path of the truck resulted in the injury of two other drivers, a 27-year-old male and a 27-year-old female, who were both admitted to a local hospital in stable condition, having their situations stabilized after being transported. Local hospitals received the injured, providing necessary care and a beacon of hope for recovery amidst the aftermath of the collision.
