
Cleveland officials are in the early stages of an investigation following the grim discovery of a body in the Cuyahoga River. According to a spokesperson from the Cleveland Division of Fire, the alarm was raised Thursday morning when calls were received around 10:10 a.m. reporting a body in the water near the Carter Road Bridge, as first reported by WKYC.
The body was retrieved from the river by the Cleveland Fire Department by utilizing a fire boat in the recovery effort. Cleveland Fire Chief Mike Norman stated, "a city worker walking on the bridge spotted the body and called EMS." Norman further shared that the individual is a white male, although his identity remains unknown, News 5 Cleveland reports. The location, under the bridge that crosses the river behind Tower City, is now a site of investigation and mystery.
With the confirmation that a body was found, there is now a wave of inquiries to determine the events that led to the individual's demise. As aired by Cleveland19, the discovery originated from the observation of a city worker who reportedly saw the body while on a routine walk along the bridge, pinning the sighting at the same time mentioned by fellow authorities. The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s Office is poised to lead the investigation, tasked with unraveling the causes and circumstances shrouded around the death of the male victim.
