In an effort to kindle awareness of wildfire preparedness in Boulder County, Wildfire Partners has launched "The HOTline," a novel approach that merges the quaint charm of rotary phones with vital safety information. These installations, part of the wider "Wildfire Happens Here" campaign, are designed to facilitate discussions around the ever-present risk of wildfires and the necessity of preparedness.

Residents aiming to brush up on their wildfire knowledge can find these phone stations at four key locations until November 4. According to Boulder County, simply lifting the receiver will cue a message from Boulder County Commissioners Ashley Stolzmann or Marta Loachamin, sharing tips on fire safety or steps to safeguard homes. They're stationed at North Boulder Rec Center, Lafayette Public Library, Louisville Public Library, and Boulder County Fairgrounds.

Outreach Coordinator Abby Silver highlighted the perennial nature of the wildfire threat in Boulder County, underscoring that it should not fade from public consciousness despite the absence of flames. "In times without an active fire, it's easy to put wildfire preparedness out of mind," she told Boulder County, emphasizing the year-round vulnerability and the collective responsibility of Boulder residents to adopt fire risk reduction measures at home.

Earlier this summer, Wildfire Partners announced a rebate program aimed at easing the financial burden for those taking proactive steps to fortify their properties against wildfires. The program provides rebates of up to $500 and is available through October 31. Interested parties, made aware of this incentive by BoulderCounty.gov news, are urged to visit WildfirePartners.org/rebate for more details.

Funded by the Wildfire Mitigation Sales Tax, which voters in the area approved in 2022, Wildfire Partners provides an array of support to Boulder County residents. Their offerings range from personalized wildfire mitigation assessments to educational programs, community events, and even a no-cost chipping program. All these efforts are aimed at enhancing the community's resilience in the face of a fire's potential ravages.
