As Central Florida anticipates the arrival of a potential tropical storm, cities are mobilizing resources to aid residents. Winter Springs has set up sandbag filling stations at Central Winds Park, operating from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Sunday, providing fifteen bags per household as a precaution against flooding, as reported by WFTV. "It's going to be a lot of rain for a lot of people that aren't used to it for one thing. You better be prepared than not," Winter Springs resident Steve King stated.

In preparation for the weather system expected to intensify by mid-week, the City of Edgewater has followed suit, establishing distributed points for sand collection. This strategy includes the provision of sand piles at two locations: the Edgewater Fire Rescue Association Fire Hall on Hibiscus Drive and Mango Tree Drive. According to WESH, the Mango Tree Lake site will have staffed hours from October 5 to October 9, from noon to 6 p.m., while the Hibiscus Drive location is unstaffed but open 24 hours a day.

Residents seeking protection from the expected surge of rainfall are encouraged to bring their shovels and bags when visiting these sandbag locations. In addition to the sandbag preparations, city officials have also been strengthening stormwater infrastructure.
