The team confirmed that Cleveland Browns linebacker Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah, who suffered a neck injury during Sunday's game, has been discharged from the hospital yesterday. During the third quarter against the Baltimore Ravens, Owusu-Koramoah was injured in a tackle involving Ravens running back Derrick Henry. Following the incident, he appeared to be unconscious on the field, as described by WKYC.
The 24-year-old, who was wearing additional protective gear in the form of a padded guardian cap over his helmet when the incident occurred, was eventually immobilized on a backboard and removed from the field, his facemask having been taken off by medical personnel, as he was carted off the field the team said Owusu-Koramoah had entire movement of his limbs which indicates a hopeful prognosis. Head coach Kevin Stefanski, who remarked on Monday that the linebacker was doing better, did not provide a timetable for his return to the field, as reported by Cleveland 19.
While the Browns and their fans breathe a sigh of relief with the news of Owusu-Koramoah's release, concerns remain for cornerback Denzel Ward, who is currently in concussion protocol, as stated by News 5 Cleveland. Ward, who is known to have had at least six concussions during his NFL career, complicates the situation for a Browns' defense grappling with injury challenges.
Owusu-Koramoah himself has communicated his well-being post-injury, sharing "All is well. Alhamdulillah" on social media, while his teammate, safety Juan Thornhill, expressed measured relief, noting that Owusu-Koramoah was moving his arms and legs shortly after the injury, saying, "I think he said something like, 'Yeah, I can't roll over'" which of course alarmed me at first, but then, observing him regain movement was a relief, according to a statement obtained by News 5 Cleveland. The Browns organization will continue monitoring Owusu-Koramoah's condition throughout the week on a day-to-day basis to determine his ability to return to play.
