A Cleveland man, Terrell Silver, has been sentenced to life imprisonment without the possibility of parole for the murders of four individuals, one of which was a pregnant teenager back in 2019. According to FOX19, Judge Ashley Kilbane handed down the sentence yesterday after Silver was found guilty by a jury on multiple charges, including seven counts of aggravated murder and four counts of murder.
The conviction and sentencing bring to close a case over five years. Silver carried out the violent act at a residence near East 144th Street and Kinsman Road, as reported by WKYC. He shot the victims multiple times as they lay on mattresses on the floor, including Jazmyne Lawson, an 18-year-old who was five-and-a-half months pregnant.
Silver denied responsibility for the murders during the trial. "I can’t, I will not apologize for these charges. I’m not responsible for them," Silver stated in court, as noted by News 5 Cleveland. Despite his claims, the prosecution provided evidence linking Silver to the crime, including DNA and gun tool mark evaluations.
In the wake of the sentencing, the victims' families shared heart-wrenching impact statements. Tammy Quitman, the mother of one of the victims, told WKYC, "You have destroyed 4 families and 5 lives, and for what?" The sentencing phase also included a proposal from the mother of Aiyanna Quitman, suggesting Silver be placed in solitary confinement on each victim's birthday with photos of them before and after the murder posted in the cell.
Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Michael C. O’Malley described Silver as "the worst of the worst," and emphasized the significance of the conviction and sentencing, stating to News 5 Cleveland.
