A 41-year-old man led Cleveland police on a high-speed chase after alleged armed robbery incidents on Fulton Avenue. FOX8 reports that the events began last Thursday evening, with the suspect purportedly breaking windows at a local business. When a 59-year-old man intervened, he was robbed at gunpoint. The suspect then reportedly fired shots at another man, who, thankfully, was unharmed.
As police responded to the scene, hearing gunshots nearby while investigating, a second victim, a 31-year-old man, revealed that the suspect had fired at him. Chasing the suspect's car from Fulton Road, officers moved dangerously onto I-71 and I-490 East at high speeds before the suspect crashed into a guardrail. "I am grateful to the men and women of the Second District and the entire Division for their continued hard work," Cleveland Police Chief Dorothy Todd was quoted in a release published by Cleveland19 News, recognizing the pursuit that led to the swift arrest of the 'dangerous individual' which underscores officers' commitment to community safety.
The suspect, who has yet to be officially charged, was arrested on several counts, including Aggravated Robbery and Improper Handling of Firearms in a Motor Vehicle. Stolen property from the original victim was also recovered. Detailed in the reports by WKYC, further charges possibly include Felonious Assault, Having Weapons While Under Disability, Criminal Damaging, Felony Fleeing and Eluding, Tampering with Evidence, Drug Trafficking, Violating State Drug Laws, and Possessing Criminal Tools.
