The National Weather Service in Cleveland has released a forecast indicating that after a period of cold weather with frost and freeze warnings in Ohio, conditions are set to improve as high pressure builds from the west. This will end rain showers and a climb in temperatures; the frost and freeze warnings are set to expire at 9 AM today.
The weather service expects temperatures to range from the upper 40s to mid-50s today, with the warmest temperatures found in sunnier western locations. Tonight is predicted to be the coldest night of the week, with lows in the low to mid-30s across most of the area. Into Thursday morning, there's a potential for more frost and freeze conditions, according to the National Weather Service.
The short-term forecast into the weekend appears calm. An upper-level ridge of high pressure dominates the weather pattern, bringing sunny skies and seasonable temperatures in the lower to middle 60s for Friday and warmer conditions into the weekend. Saturday's temperatures are expected to be in the middle to upper 70s.
Looking ahead to next week, the fair weather trend continues as the high pressure slowly retreats, allowing for a gradual rise in temperatures. From Sunday through Tuesday, highs will range from the upper 60s to the middle 70s. However, by Tuesday night or Wednesday, a cold front could move in, bringing a possibility of rain showers to cap off the period of milder weather.
The marine forecast complements the overall improving trend, as Small Craft Advisories in effect this morning are set to expire by late afternoon. Northerly winds of 15 to 25 knots earlier in the day diminish to light west winds of 5 to 10 knots as high-pressure moves in. As forecast discussions indicate, no further advisories are expected this coming weekend.
