Garfield Heights police have detained a suspect in the murder of a man that took place outside a Dunkin' Donuts earlier this month. The suspect, 29-year-old Waunyae Arrington, was arrested in Columbus, as reported by WKYC. He has since been charged with murder and is currently in custody in the Cuyahoga County Jail, with a bond set at $10 million.

On the early morning of Oct. 4, police were called to the scene near the Dunkin' Donuts intersection of Turney and McCracken Roads. They found 32-year-old José Ervin Jr., of Maple Heights, unresponsive with a gunshot wound. Authorities soon need to determine that the Cleveland native Arrington shot Ervin following what appears to have been an argument, as detailed by Cleveland19. Ervin was transported to Marymount Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Arrington has a criminal history in Cuyahoga County, with convictions for weapons charges and robbery dating back to 2018 and an 18-month prison sentence that began in 2021. "It's been hell, it has, because it's like my worst nightmare come to reality," Ervin's widow, Scierra, who shared twins with Ervin and is expecting their third child, told WKYC.

At a vigil, Ervin's sister remembered him as a loving father just "shortly a year and some change" before his death, according to an interview given to Cleveland19. The Garfield Heights Police Department has not yet announced a subsequent court date for Arrington. They continue to investigate the circumstances leading up to the tragic event reported by FOX8 News.
