After a thorough legal process, the Franklin County Prosecuting Attorney's Office announced a Columbus jury's guilty verdict against Brad Madison for the murder of Brandon Joiner. The jury found Madison, 37, guilty on multiple charges, including two counts of murder, one count of aggravated murder, and one count of having a weapon while under a disability. These crimes were linked to the fatal shooting of Joiner, 33, back in May 2022.
Details from the Franklin County Prosecuting Attorney's press release state that Madison shot Joiner several times from his vehicle while driving along State Route 104. This comes after investigators worked meticulously at the scene. Without any incident on May 25, 2022, officers from the Columbus Division of Police apprehended Madison. Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Steven Schott and Deputy Chief Counsel Anthony Pierson represented the state in prosecuting the case.
The investigative work of officers like Detective Darren Egelhoff was crucial to securing the conviction, and the Franklin County Prosecutor’s Office has expressed its gratitude for this. Each of the counts against Madison was enhanced with a three-year firearm specification. This means he now faces a minimum of 26 years to life in prison, with the possibility of life without parole looming at the other end of the spectrum.
Franklin County Court of Common Pleas Judge Dan Hawkins presided over the proceedings and is scheduled to sentence Madison on October 23 at 9 a.m.
