As Hurricane Helene caused extensive damage, residents of Holly Springs are uniting to support relief efforts in the impacted areas of western North Carolina. Town Manager Randy Harrington explained the critical situation regarding shortages of clean water, food, fuel, and a breakdown in communication infrastructure.

Holly Springs Police Chief Paul Liquorie is leading a law enforcement task force to assist in recovery operations. This group includes officers from several local departments, such as the Holly Springs, Apex, Cary, Morrisville, and Wake Forest Police Departments, as well as Wake ABC Law Enforcement, all working together to support the overextended staff of the Asheville Police Department. A team of 47 officers, including twelve from Holly Springs itself, convened at Ting Park before making their way to the Asheville region, according to information from the Town of Holly Springs' official announcement.

In addition to the police force, the community's firefighters are also actively involved, with four firefighters from Holly Springs deployed to assist in Mitchell County as part of a larger team from Wake County. Meanwhile, the town's IT Director, Jeff Wilson, is working with an IT Strike Team at the state Emergency Operations Center in Hickory, focusing on communications technology, including programming radios and setting up Starlink satellite dishes for personnel in the affected areas.

Holly Springs' request for donations received significant community support, with over 200 cases of water, 5,600 protein bars, and 400 packs of baby wipes donated, as reported by the Town of Holly Springs. Any remaining supplies will be forwarded to other workers in need following the deployment efforts.
