Over the weekend, Civic Park hosted the Light the Night event, where the community gathered to honor individuals and families affected by blood cancers. Among the attendees was Bayliss, a cancer patient, along with her family, illustrating their personal connection to the issue. According to a statement obtained by KSAT, Annie Filtsch, Bayliss' mother, conveyed the shared sentiment, saying, "We love to come out to celebrate all the survivors. And remember those who deserved a lot more. And then just to talk with people who are still fighting."
Hosted jointly by Hemisfair and KSAT Community, the event serves as a gathering point for friends, families, schools, corporate teams, and sponsors to show support in the fight against cancer. It aims to raise funds for research and patient assistance.
The event serves to honor those affected by blood cancers and encourage action. Funds raised will support research, advocacy, and assistance for patients and families dealing with leukemia and lymphoma.
As darkness descended, the night was illuminated not only by the lanterns but also by the presence of those in attendance, creating a network of support that extends beyond this event. Each light symbolizes a story, a life, and a memory that remains despite challenges. The mission of Light the Night encourages the community to gather to celebrate, honor, and remember those affected by blood cancers.
