Denver Broncos wide receiver Josh Reynolds is recovering from injuries sustained in a shooting incident in Denver last week. According to NBC News, Reynolds was shot in the left arm and the back of his head after leaving a strip club early Friday morning on October 18. Reynolds, along with another man who was shot in the back and a third individual wounded by shattered glass, were all victims of this violent altercation.
Following the shooting, the former Lions player reportedly was seen working out on a side field during Broncos' practice later in the week, as per NBC's report, his presence indicating resilience in the face of adversity yet, Reynolds is also on a four-week injured reserve due to a prior fractured finger. The WZZM13 account relayed that the shooting injuries are not expected to prolong his stint on IR from a physical standpoint, but the emotional trauma from the incident is another matter.
In a statement obtained by AP News, the Broncos communicated that Reynolds "was a victim of a shooting on Friday in Denver and received treatment for minor injuries.” The team has demonstrated ongoing support, choosing to refrain from additional commentary out of respect for the legal process underway.
Denver police have arrested two men in connection to the shootings: Luis Mendoza, 35, and Burr Charlesworth, 42, both are currently being held for investigation of attempted first-degree murder and first-degree assault. A blue Ford Bronco, the vehicle carrying the victims, was discovered with several bullet defects indicating the seriousness of the chase that ensued after the victims left the club they were all traced through GPS to a location a narrative pieced together by multiple frantic 911 calls as reported by WZZM13.
Josh Reynolds, in his eighth NFL season, signed a two-year contract with the Broncos earlier this year, after previously playing for the Los Angeles Rams, the Detroit Lions, and the Tennessee Titans. The shooting comes off the heels of his injury in a game victory against the Las Vegas Raiders earlier this month, sidelining him for the Broncos' subsequent games, per information from WZZM13.
