Seattle's Capitol Hill neighborhood is grappling with fresh scars after a memorial turned tragic, as detectives are piecing together the events of a double shooting. The original gathering meant to honor a woman recently killed by gunfire, spiraled into further violence yesterday. The Seattle Police Department has disclosed that a 25-year-old woman was shot in the leg, and a 29-year-old man also suffered a serious gunshot wound at the same event, suffering from injuries that again stained the streets with sorrow and echoed unanswered cries for reprieve.
Both victims ended up at separate medical facilities, with the woman in serious but stable condition at Harborview Medical Center after officers administered aid. A short while later, walking into Harbor Medical Center with a wound that was no less serious, the male victim reported being shot at the same somber gathering in the 1400 block of 11th Avenue. According to the Seattle Police Department, the incident occurred shortly before 2:15 a.m., leaving the community reeling and the authorities seeking answers.
The incident prompted a quick response from officers who secured the crime scene, initiating an investigation amidst the early morning chaos. Witnesses at the scene suggested that the gunfire emanated from multiple suspects who subsequently fled in vehicles.
