Early Tuesday morning, a fatal accident occurred when a vehicle went off the road and into a ditch in Kent, resulting in the death of the driver. The King County Sheriff's Office (KCSO) reported to the scene near St. Patrick Cemetery at 4255 S 204th St. shortly before 4 a.m. where the car was found to have collided at high speed with a power pole, as detailed in a statement obtained by KOMO News.
Brandyn Hull, the KCSO Communications Manager, confirmed the details of the crash, while a witness revealed to authorities having heard the vehicle speeding just moments before the devastating impact. This witness account, shared with deputies, was also mentioned in coverage provided by KIRO 7.
The extent of the damage to the car was considerable, as described by Puget Sound Fire PIO Pat Pawlak. Tragically, the severity of the collision was such that the driver, who was alone in the car, succumbed to their injuries before firefighters could offer aid. The identity of the individual remains withheld pending family notification and further investigation.
Emergency services continue to work at the scene, and the investigation into the exact causes of the accident is still underway.
