Voters in Durham County could cast their ballots during North Carolina Central University's Homecoming events yesterday. The Turner Law Building will be open as an early voting site from 8 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., allowing voters to participate while enjoying the Homecoming Parade and the 3:30 p.m. football game, according to the Durham County.
The voting site for Durham County is at the intersection of S. Alston Avenue and Cecil Street, with parking available along Cecil Street for those attending the parade or football game. An officer will assist voters on Cecil Street, and additional parking for individuals with disabilities is next to the Turner Law Building. North Carolina Central University is hosting events at O'Kelly-Riddick Stadium, and steps are in place to help voters reach the polls. Voters should enter the Turner Law Building through the front entrance, and curbside voting will be available by following Cecil Street to Lincoln Street and then right on Nelson Street.
From 6 a.m. to 12 p.m., Fayetteville Street from Timothy Avenue to E. Lawson Street will be closed for the parade. After the parade, Lawson Street from Fayetteville to Alston Avenue and Cecil Street from Fayetteville to Alston Avenue (except for voting traffic) will remain closed until traffic eases after the game. The county encourages voters to use the early voting site locator and wait-time application to plan their visits. Updates on early voting and election news can be found at dcovotes.com or through the DCo Votes App, as reported by the Durham County.
