The Duval County Supervisor of Elections Office has started mailing 61,359 vote-by-mail ballots to voters in the region. For those who want to avoid potential lines at the polls on November 5, these ballots allow them to participate in the General Election from home. According to a press release on the Duval County website, Democratic voters lead the list with 28,391 requests, followed by Republicans with 22,758. Non-Party Affiliates and others made 9,014 and 1,196 requests, respectively.
The deadline is October 24, and at precisely 5:00 P.M., the window to request will close. Duval’s Supervisor of Elections, Jerry Holland, strongly supports this voting method, stating, “Vote-by-Mail is a secure and accurate process. We recommend voting by mail to avoid lines and to ensure nothing gets in the way of you casting your vote. If you wait until Election Day, something could come up, which is why it is so important to make a plan to vote.” Ballots must be returned to the Supervisor of Elections' Office by 7:00 P.M. on election night to be counted, as stated by the Duval County.
Voters interested in this option should visit duvalelections.gov, call 904-255-VOTE (8683), or stop by in person for assistance. This resource offers information for voters, including an instructional video that clearly explains the vote-by-mail process, as well as a tracking feature to follow your ballot's journey from mailbox to ballot box, as reported by the Duval County.
