San Antonians can participate in early voting, which began today, leading up to the November 5 election. Bexar County is a significant area for the presidential race between Vice President Harris and former President Trump, as well as for local law enforcement leadership and Texas' U.S. Senate seat, as reported by KENS 5.
Bexar County, now with over 1.2 million registered voters after a 9.7% increase in registrations since the last presidential election, has 51 early polling locations available for residents. Voters have various options as they engage in this election, "You can see the growth in Bexar County" Jacquelyn Callanen stated, Bexar County’s Elections Administrator, in a statement obtained by San Antonio Report, as she presides over her final bout in the election arena before retirement.
Voters can choose where to cast their ballots within Bexar County, with online resources available, including an electoral map. The Bexar County Elections Department offers guidance, providing resources like personalized sample ballots to assist voters in making informed choices.
The deadline for voter registration has closed as of October 7. Those who are registered are responsible for participating in the election. If your name is on the rolls before the deadline and you are not impacted by felony convictions or mental incapacity, you have the right to vote. To do so, you must present your driver's license or the last four digits of your Social Security number, which are required for your ballot or for a vote-by-mail application.
Inside the voting booth, campaign materials must be set aside; items such as campaign signs cannot be within 100 feet of polling locations, and electronic devices should be silenced or left in your vehicle. Voting by mail is available to those who meet certain criteria. To ensure their votes are counted, ballots must be postmarked by 7 p.m. on Election Day.
