The Motor City's rap icon Eminem, also known as Marshall Mathers, swapped his mic for a fork as he cut into a custom "mom's spaghetti" cake to celebrate his 52nd birthday in Austin, ahead of his performance at the Formula 1 U.S. Grand Prix at the Circuit of the Americas on Oct. 19, as reported by KVUE. The creation, baked by local pastry chef Hannah Brockert, came to be through a partnership with All Pro Smoke House chef Andy Knudson, who requested an "eye-catching" birthday dessert for the rapper's celebration.
The Devil's Food cake, cleverly paired with peanut butter-flavored buttercream, because researching Eminem's love for peanut butter informed the creation process, included a topping of strawberry sauce to mimic marinara, chocolate rice crispy formed into meatball lookalikes, and white chocolate shavings doing an eerily accurate impression of parmesan cheese, as detailed by Eater Austin.
Hannah Brockert, reflecting on the surreal experience of baking for an industry titan like Eminem, expressed her excitement in a statement obtained by Austin Eater, saying, "I’m a millennial who grew up listening and watching his music change the game." She added, “Now getting asked to make this cake for someone whose ‘legendary’ status is actually so hard to wrap my head around," and she giggled at the thought that maybe, just maybe this quirky spaghetti and meatball cake could become a trendsetter in celebratory baking. She hopes that more people will start requesting her spaghetti and meatball cakes as well.
